Aventurine is a member of the Chalcedony family.
The glistening in Aventurine is called Aventurescence. The Aventurescence colour is determined by which inclusions are present. Mica gives it a silver or gold shimmer. Goethite and Hematite gives it a red or grey shimmer. Fuschite gives it a green shimmer.

FOLKLORE & LEGEND
Aventurine got its name from Venetian glass workers in the 18th century. They were preparing a batch of molten glass when copper filings were eventually knocked into it. This produced sparkles in the glass. The Italian phrase ‘a ventura ’ means ‘by chance’.
Aventurine is said to be a lucky talisman, especially for gamblers.
It is a very positive stone of prosperity.

HEALING
It is an all-purpose healing stone, used to reduce stress and balance the emotions.
